Those that are spiritually sensitive don't accept the cultural status quo, see things in a way that the culture see them, allow their companions to determine correctness, and allow the culture to dictate their convictions.

A sincere decision does not guarantee a sanctified life. Nehemiah had left Jerusalem, and while he was gone it didn't take long for there to be spiritual decline in Jerusalem. The people compromised in four areas. They compromised in their companions. They kept back what should have been given in the collection. They secularized the Sabbath. They corrupted the covenant of marriage. Vigilance is required so that sincere decisions also become part of sanctified living.

It was given to support the ministry, show pleasure to the ministers, and to proclaim God's grace. Biblical giving is motivated by the grace of God. The characteristics of grace giving is that it is joyful, generous, voluntary, submissive, and done lovingly.
